Franklinton Police have arrested four people for their alleged involvement in last Sunday’s (Jan. 19) shooting for a 20 year-old man.
It was very early Sunday morning that police received a call from the Riverside Medical Center emergency room regarding a gunshot victim. Franklinton officers responded and learned that the shooting took place in the 1900 block of Desmare Street.
Further investigation revealed that the 20-year-old victim was shot after he approached a vehicle which had pulled up in front of a residence. At the time of the shooting, several witnesses were present and they saw the shooter’s vehicle fleeing the area at a high rate of speed.
The victim was transported to RMC where emergency treatment was provided, and he was then transferred to another care facility.
Following an intensive investigation, Franklinton police have arrested the following people for the shooting: •Finny Riley, charged with attempted 2nd degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm. •Kathlyn Magee of Franklinton, assessory after the fact to attempted 2nd degree murder. •Mashanna Buckley of Hammond, assessory after the fact to attempted 2nd degree murder. •Dedrick E. Cooper of Hammond, principal to attempted second degree murder.
Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from animosity between the shooter and the victim.
