Drive-thru Payment Is Now Possible At WSTE Office

After many years of service as a bank, a building on Pearl Street in Franklinton now has a new life.
The former CapitalOne bank branch is now part of Washington St. Tammany Electric Cooperative.’s Franklinton office complex. Since purchasing it last year, WSTE has been remodeling and renovating the former bank to create offices and a customer service area.
Charles Hill, CEO and General Manager of the co-op, said, “Although the renovation is not complete, WST is certainly proud of its new facilities. We plan to have a grand opening later this summer when the project is complete.”
Customers are already using the new drive-thru window to make payments. Power bills can be paid inside or at the drive-thru for those customers who prefer to pay in person.
Hill noted that the new drive-thru window is a major enhancement of the renovation project.
As employees of WSTE begin occupying the new space, the existing building next door at the corner of Pearl and Lee streets is being remodeled to give it a facelift along with some new office space.
Hill said when all of the work is completed later this summer, all of the Franklinton WSTE employees will be under one roof. Previously, the co-op had to rent space in what it called “the annex”, located to the east on Pearl Street.
Before becoming CapitalOne, the fomer bank building also was First State Bank, and then Hibernia Bank.
CapitalOne purchased Hibernia and took over its branches. However, the Franklinton branch was closed a few years ago as part of CapitalOne’s focus on larger markets.
