Early voting underway

Early voting is now underway for the July 11 election.

Because the date of the election was changed due to Coronavirus, early voting was also changed. If you need to early vote, you can do so through Friday, July 3.

The July 11 election involves a presidential primary election for both Democrats and Republicans. Also on the ballot is a race for the state Court of Appeal. This is to fill the seat left vacant by Judge Will Crain when he was elected to the state Supreme Court last fall.

In the presidential primary, numerous candidates are on the ballot for both the Democratic and Republican parties. However, President Donald Trump, Republican, and former Vice-President Joe Biden, Democrat, are the expected 2020 nominees of their parties, so there's not much drama there.

Seeking Judge Crain's former seat on the Court of Appeal are two district judges, Rick Swartz of St. Tammany Parish and Beth Wolfe of Tangipahoa Parish.

Later this year, numerous races will be on the ballot on November 3.
