With Louisiana now into “Phase One” of the governor’s re-opening plan, one of the places affected is the Washington Parish Courthouse.
Parish President Richard Thomas said the courthouse is now open, but some important restrictions have been implemented.
He said only 25 percent of the building’s total capacity can enter. Or, he said, entrance to the Clerk of Court’s office, the the Assessor’s office, and other offices can be by appointment.
Thomas added that a face mask will be required of everyone entering the courthouse, and a temperature check will be taken.
“Once you enter, please practice social distancing and repsect the surroundings of others,” Thomas said. He offered his thanks to courthouse visitors for being understanding of the difficulties being caused by COVID-19.
The numbers for courthouse offices for making appointments are: Washington Parish Government, 985-839-7825; Assessor’s Office, 985-839-7815; Clerk of Court Office, 985-839-4663; Registrar of Voters’ Office, 985-839-7850.
