Frances Varnado is new superintendent

The Washington Parish School Board has selected a veteran of the school system to become the new superintendent of schools.
Frances Varnado, former principal of Enon Elementary, will succeed Darrell Fairburn, who is retiring.
In addition to serving as principal at Enon Elementary. Mrs. Varnado has also been a teacher, assistant principal, and has held roles in the school system’s central office.
John Wyble, president of the parish school board, said the selection process was difficult for the board because there were four very highly qualified applicants to choose from.
“I am really excited for the future of the Washington Parish School System under Mrs. Varnado’s leadership,” Wyble commented. “She has incredible vision and energy, as well as passion, for our students, faculty, and staff.”
