Franklinton All-Star Team Wins State Tourney


The Franklinton Youth Baseball 9U All-Star team captured the USSSA State Tournament championship and qualified to play in the USSSA World Series. Chalmette will host the USSSA 9U World Series July 10-14.
Held in Livingston Parish on June 15 and 16, the Franklinton 9U All-Stars opened the State Tournament by defeating the Zachary 9U All-Stars 10-3. Franklinton followed with an 11-8 win over the Slidell Bantom Baseball Association Pelicans to reach the tournament championship. On Sunday, Franklinton defeated the 9U Cubs 11-2 to claim the State Championship tournament title.
Members of the Franklinton 9U All-Star team are Brayson Boyet, Brody Applewhite, Brody Williams, BJ Dillon, Cade Crowe, Cayman Pugh, Luke Tullos, Brody Brumfield, Aliyah Bascle, and Dawson Bell. The team is coached by Dustin Crowe, Ben Bascle, Bubba Pugh, B.J. Brumfield, Ze' Kyle Dillon, and Len Bickham.
The 9U All-Stars also competed in a USSSA tournament in Jackson, Mississippi on June 8 and 9. On Saturday, the Franklinton All-Stars defeated the CBA Reds 15-13 to open tournament play. Franklinton 9U followed that win by defeating Wesson 9U 20-7 in the final game of the day.
On Sunday in the Jackson tournament, Franklinton 9U defeated the North Jackson Bombers 9U 12-1 to move to the championship game. Franklinton defeated the Florence Eagles 9U 8-6 to capture the tournament championship.
