Franklinton's Magee, Pine's Dillon ready for National Championship game
Anticipation turns into action this coming Monday evening as LSU plays for the national championship.
And two LSU players from the Franklinton area will contribute as the Tigers seek their third national championship of this century.
Adrian Magee, a Franklinton High School graduate, and Derrick Dillion, a Pine High School graduate, are both valued members of the LSU football team. Magee is an offensive lineman, and Dillon is a wide receiver.
They were key members of their high school football teams in Washington Parish. Their families and many close friends will be watching closely as they and their teammates take on Clemson for the national championship Monday evening.
Another LSU player, Andre Anthony, has a strong Washington Parish connection. Although he graduated from Edna Karr High School in New Orleans, his mother (Anna Dyson-Anthony) graduated from Franklinton High and the family has many close relatives in the Franklinton area.
The game starts at 7 p.m. in the New Orleans Superdome. It will be broadcast live on ESPN.
•The Era-Leader will publish a special edition on January 22 commending the LSU football team.
