A Riverside Medical Center tax renewal referendum was overwhelmingly approved Saturday.
All 22 precincts in Washington Parish Hospital Service District #1 voted in favor of renewing a 10 year, 18 mills tax levy that helps support the hospital.
Turnout was light. Parish Registrar of Voters Randy Strickland had predicted that 10% of registered voters would participate, and he hit is almost on the nail as 10.8% of the voters in the district cast ballots.
The final total was 1,283 in favor, and 356 opposed, for a 78% yes, 22% no margin.
