Wednesday and Thursday of last week were dreary, with some rain and some wind.
By Friday the sun was shining and everything was good around here.
But just over 200 miles away from Franklinton, it was a different story. There was devastation and flooding in Gulf Shores, Pensacola, and the surrounding areas.

Someone in Washington Parish is missing a cow.

A wandering cow turned up on property located near RJ Riley Road and Peterson Road in the Mount Hermon area.

WPSO seeks public's help in identifying suspects who stole motorcycle in Mount Hermon

Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal seeks the public’s help to identify suspects in a recent motorcycle theft which occurred in Mt. Hermon. The suspects were driving what appears to be a Nissan or Honda with a sun roof and pulling a utility trailer.

One of the suspects is seen in the photo above.

Man arrested for gun charges

On September 4, a Lee's Creek man was arrested on gun charges related to an investigation which began several days earlier. William Zachariah Bennett, 23, a resident of Lee's Creek Road, was placed in the Washington Parish Jail charged with three counts of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Edwards extends facemask mandate until at least August 28; 58 deaths in Washington Parish

UPDATED, TUESDAY AUGUST 4

Governor John Bel Edwards announced Tuesday that his order mandating face masks has been extended until at least August 28.

Louisiana hasn’t advance far enough in its fight against Coronavirus and so it must remain in Phase 2, the governor said.

WST joins purchasing group, seeks continued low electricity prices

Five electric distribution cooperatives have joined forces to secure a favorable wholesale power supply contract on behalf of their members.
The purchasing group, called 1803 Electric Cooperative, Inc., represents more than 130,000 electric cooperative members residing primarily in rural areas across the state.


Williams and Hobgood are arrested by WPSO for offenses

Otha Michael Williams, 54, a resident of West Stateline Road in northern Washington Parish, was arrested on February 4 and placed in the Washington Parish Jail where he remains with bond set at $750,000. Williams is charged with three counts of aggravated rape, one count of sexual battery and one count of indecent behavior with juveniles.
