A Franklinton-area husband and wife were killed last week on Interstate 20 in Mississippi when an 18-wheeler ran into their vehicle. Triston McCain Scott, 35, and Calvin Lee Scott, 40, leave behind five children. Triston was a Franklinton High graduate, while Calvin was originally from Georgia.

A crowd of Republican candidates for state, district, and parish offices jammed into the 1010 Club on Bene Street this past Saturday as part of a ‘Meet the Candidates’ event.
John Bel Edwards (pictured) narrowly lost in Washington Parish and narrowly won statewide as he was re-elected Saturday to a second term as Louisiana’s governor. Edwards, a Democrat from Amite, lost the parish to Republican Eddie Rispone by a 52-48% margin. He won statewide by an even closer margin: 51-49%.
The MAIS devastated Bowling Green players and coaches last week with a ruling that the Bucs must forfeit their six football victories this season.
The ruling comes as a result of a complaint to MAIS that Bowling Green was using two ineligible players in all of its games thus far in the 2019 season.

While visitors to the 2019 Washington Parish Free Fair will have a Sunday afternoon of entertainment at the main stage, the final night of the fair, Saturday, October 20, will feature Parish County Line at 6:30 and Michael Ray at 8:30.
On June 6 an inmate allegedly offered a bribe to a Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Jail Deputy if the officer would agree to bring contraband into the jail. The officer agreed that he would do it for the right price.
