The Waverley Club Santa Float made its annual appearance in Franklinton on Wednesday, December 10.
The visit by Santa, Mrs. Claus and elves began in 1919 making this 106 years of bringing candy canes and the magic of Christmas to local schools.
The float, hand painted by the Felix's in 1958, got an early morning start and thanks to driver Mark Watson arrived right on time at Bowling Green School, Head Start, Franklinton Primary School, and the Washington Parish Activity Center. Santa Claus heard the Christmas wishes of approximately 800 children this year between the three schools and he sang carols with the clients at the Activity Center.
The Waverley Club is proud to sponsor this enduring tradition and also invites everyone to visit the Christmas lights at the Waverley Triangle and Rock House in downtown Franklinton.
