UPDATE: The deceased occupants of the plane have been identified as William "Bill" Day, age 68, and his wife, Tommie Day, age 69. They were from Sequin,Texas.
A small plane crashed this morning (Thursday) near the Bogalusa airport, killing both of the people on board.
Deputies, police officers, and other emergency responders raced to the crash scene at 10:48 a.m., only to find both people on board were dead.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The Washington Parish Sheriff's Office said the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been notified and will take the lead in the investigation.
The identifications of the two people who were killed in the crash are being withheld until next of kin can be notified.
The Sheriff's Office is asking the public to avoid the crash area while investigators and emergency personnel complete their work.
