The FHS Baseball Camp is a 36 year tradition in Franklinton started by former Demon coach Jeff Tageant.
Players have the opportunity to spend a week at arguably the nicest baseball field and facilities in the state. Coaches this year included former collegiate players Clay Tageant, Jonathon Crain, Nate Murray, Brady Smith, Hutch Gonzales and Coaches Jonathon Barber, Clay Morgan and Brad Oestriecher. Current FHS Demons also work the camp.
It is always a great way to kick off the summer at Demon Diamond.
FHS Head Baseball Coach Clay Tageant said, “My brother and I attended many other camps at universities during our childhood years and my dad worked at them and as a player I worked camps at LSU and USM. My dad and I have brought back drills and ideas that have helped make the FHS camp an ever-evolving experience. I would say that Demon Baseball Camp was always my favorite camp because we had a chance to spend a week full of baseball with our friends that we may have played against in little league.” He added, “Franklinton has always been an enthusiastic supporter of this event. No matter how far we made it in the playoffs or what the season record was, there have been 75-100 kids at camp who want to become better players. We now have players whose dads attended and it is awesome that those men line the fence and watch. It’s just one of my favorite baseball traditions.”
