Alvee Sharkey Cox, 86, a resident of the Stoney Point Community passed away early Friday morning October 2, 2026 at The Lodge at Tangi Pines. She was a native of Independence born on July 20, 1940. Alvee was a longtime active member of Stoney Point Missionary Baptist Church. She was a deacon’s wife but also volunteered to serve at each and every opportunity during church gatherings, religious ceremonies, Vacation Bible School, and meals for all occasions. She was also active in her Ladies Sunday School Class. Alvee was a true steward of God. She was a people person that loved visiting with her family, friends and church family as her favorite hobby. She shared coffee time every afternoon with family and enjoyed talking with anyone she could. Alvee truly loved her community and all the social aspects of living near her family and friends. She cherished all the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Wilvie Cox, parents Alton Sharkey and Zylphia Jenkins Sharkey, granddaughter Janna Kennedy Denning, sons in law Jay Hunt, Jason Wroblewski, her father in law, mother in law and several brothers in law and sisters in law.
Visitation will be at Stoney Point Missionary Baptist Church (37030 Hwy. 10, Franklinton) on Monday October 5th from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 12:00 pm Monday with Bro. Brent King and Bro. Don McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
