Alvin Edward "Eddie" Handley Sr, 84, a longtime resident of Avondale, Louisiana passed away Sunday evening January 4, 2026. He was retired after a career of restoring, maintaining and selling furniture. Eddie and his wife owned and operated Ava’s Antiques and Restoration on Magazine Street in New Orleans for many years. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War era and later was discharged into the Marine Reserve units. Eddie enjoyed fishing as his favorite pastime.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Ava Elaine Magee Handley, parents Alvin Handley and Beulah Benefield Handley, siblings Patricia Handley, Johnny Handley, Ray Magee and other family members.
A graveside funeral service will be held in the Jones Cemetery on Choctaw Road at 11:00 am Saturday January 10th with Rev. Russell Adams officiating.
