As we move through January, we’ve been experiencing a variety of temperatures. The summertime warmth caused us to toss our jackets and sweaters to the side, while the cold temps made us pick them up again. We might control some of the things that occur in our lives but, the weather is not one of them. We instead adapt to the ways of Mother Nature. I’ve learned to take one day at a time and enjoy the seasons within seasons.
Church News:
Live Oak UMC:
*Communion Service was held on the first Sunday, January 4th, of this new year 2026. Pastor Terrence August’s sermon was taken from John 1:14-15 and was entitled: When the Glory Moves In. He reminded us that the “Glory” he was referring to is Jesus Christ. Pastor August further shared that the result of Jesus moving into our lives can be seen, involves touch (the “Touch of Faith”) and our "Testimony" through Jesus’s transforming Grace. Amen.

Reflections:
*On Visiting the Sick: Visiting the sick (and shut in) is essential for those of us who are not sick to have a more fulfilling life. I (along with a friend of mine) began on New Year’s Day to intentionally visit two people in two different places of care. Nothing in my opinion can replace that “personal/face-to-face” quality time. The joy, smiles and hugs shared are reciprocal in a way that benefits both parties. Consider visiting someone in need as part of your routine, in this new year 2026 if you’re not doing so already. BTW: a phone call, text and/or email qualifies as visiting also, since the goal is to communicate. After all, we never know when we might be the one in need. ***Take Care Everyone, GPigott
