Well everyone we are down to the last week in the first month of this new year already. The winter storm forecast challenged us to trust God in a situation that was out of our control & to care for one another, which is within our control to do. I pray that all of you had all of your needs met, whatever they might have been.
On February 6th & 7th (Friday & Saturday), the Washington Parish Fire District #5 {WPFD), in partnership with the Ole Hickory Restaurant, is hosting a Chicken Plate Benefit Lunch to raise money/funds for the WPFD #5. The plate lunches will consist of: ½ smoked chicken, red beans & rice, potato salad, green beans, roll, cake, and a drink. Tickets for this fundraiser are $20 per plate and can be obtained from any member of the WPFD #5 or Call Beverly Kelly at 985-516-0736.

*On School Culture: Bogalusa and Varnado High Schools both played an outstanding game of basketball and displayed how being united can work. The MLK Classic was a winner for both schools and the communities, regardless of the scores. I am glad that I was able to attend an event like this on the Dr. Martin Luther King Holiday (1-19-2026). Kudos to all who collaborated to make this event a success! Next up is “The Mardi Gras Classic” where VHS will be hosting BHS on Feb 13th.
