By the time the Washington Art Association holds its annual show and sale, the weather is usually warmer and it is a nice day to be outside. The 2026 show is set for this Sunday, March 22 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the home of Sara Nelson in Clifton.
Some wood art is usually displayed outside, with other art placed for showing inside the large Nelson home, which has been the scene of the show for many years.
Sara Nelson, a talented artist, always has a beautiful display of her arts and crafts at the entrance. She is co-chairman of the show with Ann Warner, and they have additional help from other members of the association to get the show ready and for the beautiful placement of local art. Others provide the lovely and tasteful homemade refreshments.
Janis Fisher, a very talented painter, has been producing work in oils for many years. Johnny Green loves doing sculpture and for several years his work is an interesting part of the show. Other forms of art are also included.
Art of long-standing local artists will be combined with art of those who have learned to create art in the past few years. Some names will be familiar while others are newer to the art show, but all are members of the Washington (Parish) Art Association. The association promotes art in the area.
Those showing art include: Ann Warner, Sara Nelson, Sherri Brown, Kharon Delaney, Janis Fisher, Loretta DeSoto, Beverly Varnado, Violeta Thomas, Malinda White, Theresa Wascom, Sheila Fortenberry, Bob Ann Breland, Theron Graves, Cindy Creel, Judy Wamsley, Eleanor Duke, Terry Seal, Lenora Frazier, Curtis Creel, Ruby Bickham, Carol Ridenour and Johnny Green.
The show is free, refreshments are included and a great time to see what is being created. Everyone is invited to come and see the beautiful work of local artists.
