The Bowling Green Buccaneers opened the 2026 football season last Friday with a convincing win over Adams County Christian School at W.E. “Buck” Hellen Stadium.
The Bucs dominated on both sides of the ball with the offense putting up 35 points and a stingy defense limiting the Rebels from Natchez, Mississippi to 14 points and only 132 yards of total offense.
Bowling Green got on the scoreboard on their first drive of the game. Quarterback Joel Dupy connected with Ryn Rivenbark for a 23 yard touchdown pass and Pryce O’Shaughnessy’s extra point was good to give the Bucs a 7-0 lead. That would be the only score of the first quarter, but it wouldn't take long for the Bucs to score again.
A 15 yard run from Keelan Jackson capped off the Bucs second possession and O’Shaughnessy’s PAT just seven seconds into the second quarter increased the BGS lead to 14-0.
ACCS returned the ensuing kickoff to the Bucs 14 yard line and Ryder Smith found the end zone from a yard out four plays later. The extra point cut the lead in half with the Bucs hanging onto a 14-7 lead which would stand through halftime.
Nathan Pylant scored from 8 yards out to put the Bucs ahead 21-7 after O’Shaughnessy’s extra point with 3:03 left in the third. Bowling Green took the two touchdown lead into the fourth quarter where they would put the game on ice.
Nick Schilling scored from 10 yards out and another O’Shaughnessey PAT increased the BGS lead to 28-7 with 6:55 to go in the fourth.
Two plays after the BGS k6:58ickoff, the Rebels added a 1 yard touchdown. The extra point failed and the Bucs led 28-13.
With 1:46 remaining in the game, Dupy connected with Jackson on a 28 yard touchdown pass. The fifth PAT of the game for O’Shaughnessy closed out the scoring at 35-13. A Rivenbark interception gave the ball back to Bowling Green and they ran out the clock on the season opening win.
