The Washington Parish Government is reminding everyone that a parish-wide burn ban is still in effect.
The need for the burn ban was highlighted this week with two serious fires reported on the eastern side of the parish.
On Tuesday, firefighters were called out to a large woods fire off of Highway 1074 near Bogalusa.
And earlier today (Wednesday), firefighters from across the parish were called to a major wildfire off of Highway 438 near Angie.
All outdoor fires are prohibited and the burn ban will remain in effect until further notice. Windy conditions combined with lack of rainfall has created a very hazardous situation, with conditions ideal for fires to quickly get out of control.
