Game of the Week - Independence (6-0)) at Amite (5-1) Back in the late 90's and early 2000's this was a standing room only and four deep around the fence knock down dragout game!
Amite has remained a force in high school football while Independence has fallen off in the last years. But Independence has bounced back to be undefeated through six games while the Amite Warriors have the single loss.
Amite should have the edge in this one BUT anything can happen in a rivalry game and this is one of the biggest rivalry around.
Should be a good one!
Notes and Quotes
Bogalusa's game with Booker T Washington was cancelled due to weather and will not be made up.
"There is only one way out of this mess and that is to work hard and work smart. I know that our program is not where we thought it would be, but we are not going to stop working and trying. Our morale is good which is evident by how hard we continue to play. I want our players to know that we care for them and appreciate them and as the leader of Demon football I will do all that I can to get us back in the win column."
---Franklinton coach Nick Saltaformaggio
"It was a little closer than we thought it would be at the start of the game. Defensively they ran the ball better than we expected. But we never gave up the big play and that was our plan. Offensively we seemed a little off all night but we were able to run the ball late in the game to run the clock. Overall, we did what we needed to do to win the game and I'm proud of our team for getting the win."
--- Pine coach Bradley Seal
"Last night was a huge win for our program over a 5A opponent. All the credit goes to our kids for their dedication to our program and each other. After starting the season 0-3, winning three in a row is a huge momentum boost as we begin district play next week."
---Central Private coach Cole Holden
"We won 44-14, good game to help us get back on track. A lot of guys got playing time and was an overall good night."
---Bens Ford coach Destin Pittman
