Congratulations to the 2021 MHS Teachers of the Year! Elementary: Mrs. Tammy Bourgeois; Jr. High: Mrs. Rhonda Waskom; High School: Mrs. Ashley Guy. They were honored last Wednesday night at the Washington Parish School System Teachers of the Year Ceremony.
The 1st place winners of the District Young Author's Contest are: MiKayla Gray, Wyatt Stringfield, Gabe Newman, Alli Constant, Jacelyn Hale, Syria Crain, Madison Rodriguez, Emma Kieffer, Emma Pena, and Ju'Myrie Williams. These students will now advance to the State Young Author's Contest!
Happy National School Counselor's Week to Mrs. Hope Jones! MHS is blessed to have an amazing counselor who loves the students. In honor of this week, Mrs. Hope treated eight lucky students to have "Lunch with the Counselor". Students entered a raffle drawing by answering a question about their future plans. Thank you, Mrs. Hope for all you do at MHS.
Mark your calendar for Saturday, March 5th. There will be a Daddy-Daughter Dance from 5-7 PM, then a Mother-Son Dance from 7-9 PM. This is for PreK-6th grades only. Linda Dier Photography will be available for portraits. Buy your tickets at the door for $5.00 per person. Thank you to the Junior Class for sponsoring this event!
Last Friday night, in a pre-game ceremony, the Senior basketball players and Senior cheerleader were honored. Basketball players are Amuriel Williams (Lady Jacket), Alexander Martin, and Jonathan McMahan. Senior cheerleader is Brianna LaSalle. MHS is proud of you all!
After the Senior recognition, the MHS Yellowjackets played victoriously in a 63-37 win against False River!
Monday, February 21st at MHS, the high school baseball team will play their first game of the season at 5:00 PM, going up against the Varnado Wildcats. The high school softball team will play their first game of the season at 5:30 PM, against the Franklinton Demons. Come out and support the Yellowjackets! They are looking forward to a great season!
Bogue Chitto Baptist Church
The second season of the movie "The Chosen" will continue to be shown Sunday evenings at 5 PM.
They invite you all to join them on Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM for Sunday school, and church service at 10:30 AM. Prayer meeting and Children's Bible Studies are Wednesdays at 5:30 PM.
Mt. Hermon Baptist Church
Beginning Sunday night, February 20th at 5 PM, they will begin a study on "Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts". You don't want to miss it!
Now is the time to join the choir, and be part of the Easter Cantata. They practice on Wednesday nights at 7 PM. For those who cannot attend on Wednesday nights, they also practice on Sunday afternoons at 4 PM.
Don't forget that February is the month to collect hygiene items in ziploc bags for Moving Mountains Ministry. The items will be used for foster children. If you have any questions, please ask Becky, Terry, or Judith.
Mt. Hermon United Pentecostal Church
Our Valentine Banquet is tonight, Wednesday February 16th at 7 PM. Everyone is welcome.
The Young At Heart group will meet at the church this Saturday at 12 PM for lunch, fellowship, and to play Bingo!
Join us on Sunday mornings at 10 AM to hear Pastor Randall Garcia preach the word. Also, you will be blessed to hear the Praise Team, as well as the Jr. and Sr. Hands of Praise.
