This has been an amazing week of ups and downs, but y’all! We finally got in touch with Mike’s bone marrow donor! Mike got a phone call this week from a number he didn’t recognize. (What’s new, right? We all get those!) He had a voicemail saying my name is Melanie and I am your donor!
We were excited to finally hear from her, kind of a we thought you would contact us, and she thought we would contact her thing. I have been thinking for over a year, “How can I/we thank him or her enough for giving life back to Mike?” I mean just saying THANK YOU just won’t or can’t cut it. It is a long and beautiful story, and you can read about it on Mike’s personal Facebook page or on his Miracles for Mike Facebook page. Melanie is our hero, and you can be a hero too by joining Be the Match. Please donate blood and platelets if you are able.
Mrs. Loralee McClendon, Deidra and John Mark Fussell, and Nancy and Dayton McClendon went on an Alaskan Cruise back in June. They were able to spend time in Seattle touring the Space Needle, the first Starbucks location, Pike’s Place Market, Nancy and Dayton were able to go to a Mariners and White Sox game where she caught a foul ball, then they cruised through Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan. I hope to one day be able to take an Alaskan Cruise too, it is on my list! I know that had a great time exploring.
Enon Baptist Church had Lego Night this past weekend. Each family received a Bible story to read, and the kiddos were able to create a Lego scene to represent it. I know they had a great time.
September 14th the Youth will be going to Urban Air. They will be leaving the church at 11 am. September 21st will be the Chili Cookoff/Fall Fest. Dust off those chili recipes and let Mrs. Alice know if you will be participating. Blessing of Food will be August 29thand 30th. We need some extra volunteers for Mission Friends (ages 4-7), if you would like to help out, please speak to Mrs. Alice.
