School bells ring again! Washington Parish school began on Wednesday, August 7th. Teachers reported a few days before the students, making final preparations for their students. Now that summer vacation is over, it's time to get back to the books.

I hope your day is a special one, Jade Norman, Sha'Ray Hart, Dianne Carter Morgan, Katie Miller, Theresa Thomas, Susie Tynes Ducoring, Lorie Tynes Vernon, Mrs. Wilda Magee, Mrs. Nettie Tate, Trinity Myers, Chyenne Wilkerson, Claire McFarlain, Mia Wallace, Ethan Miller, Randall W. Also pray for our country, and leaders and each other. Don't forget to check on the elderly. Prayer is the key to all things; trust in the one who can answer them.
Christian sympathy is sent out to the dear family of Mrs. Vivian Smith, age 90 who passed away on July 20th. She and her family were loved in our community for many years. She is the mother of Bro. Lenard Smith who is our pastor of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Vivian 's parents were Alton and Ernestine Hunt, Cooper. We grew up close neighbors in the Lawrence Creek community within a quarter of a mile of each other. We attended the same school, which was Thomas High School. My grandmother Ellen Hunt Knight was her aunt, that made us distant cousins. The last time I saw her was at revival at our church months ago and was doing well. She and her husband Ralph "Doe" had several children. It was good to see her sisters, Ruby Nell, Mildred, and Patricia and her brother Walter.
Visitation and funeral were held on Tuesday, July 23rd at the Crain's Funeral Home. Her son Bro. Leonard preached at the funeral with Bro. John Mark assisting. Burial was at Temple Baptist Church cemetery. A meal was prepared by community friends and held at the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church fellowship hall for family and friends. They expressed words of appreciation to the ladies. Vivian was a hard worker and took my pride in taking care of her family and will surely be missed by family and friends.
Thought for the week! Faith is confidence in what we hope for, and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1
So long for now. I look forward visiting with you next week. Take care of yourself and keep cool. Smile God loves you and so do I.
