Fall Greetings to all!
Well folks, our fair is history for another year. One thing for sure, you were able to go to the fair once again for a great time and make more happy memories. My first time to go to the fair this year was Thursday afternoon. I walked through the creative crafts and saw some interesting entries. Then to the women's (homemakers) building, Flower House, and on to the ag. Building. Every year I always have several exhibits in all these places. Due to not feeling well I wasn't able to get any exhibits entered. As I looked at the displays it made me sad, not having entries.
After about an hour or so I had a little talk with myself. I picked up my chin and began to enjoy myself. All the exhibits looked nice. Beautiful quilts plus, much more in the Women's Building. The flower house had all kinds of cute flowers, plants, and arrangements. The crops and school exhibits looked nice. Every year at the fair, I just can't wait to get on the fairgrounds. I'm anxious to check on all my exhibits I entered to see what ribbons I got. Well, I'm sorry ful to say, no exhibits, therefore, no ribbons this year.
The year 2019 I was sick and unable to go to the fair. To my surprise my sister Jackie entered tea cakes for me and got a blue ribbon. Back then a few days after the fair I could look for a check in the mailbox. Since then, the premiums have been cut out.
I would like to say a "Big Thank You", to those who made our 112th Washington Parish Free Fair a success and for all their hard work; I'm talking about the many volunteers who worked to make it possible. I sure did miss helping in the homemakers' building Sunday afternoon through Thursday. By the way the highlight of my week was on Saturday morning when I met up with members of my graduating class behind the Big Kitchen. Other classes were also there. It was great visiting with them. We plan to do this again next year.
Celebrating October wedding anniversaries include my niece Sheila and husband William Holmes, David and Jean Pate, Jeff and Rita Bankston, Juiet and Malinda Schilling, Jamie Kyle and Caitlin Morris, Sammie and Angel Tynes, Willie and Jerrye Kay Rawls, and Charles and Rachel Lanford. October 28, 1984, Jim and I were married with a beautiful wedding held at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. I sure do miss him. My parents Clifford Vernon Ingram and Mary Lee Knight Ingram were married on October 28, 1938. I also miss them very much.
Mt. Hermon School will have their fall festival on Friday night, November 1st at 6 p.m. There will be lots of fun, so parents bring your children.
The students and teachers enjoyed being off for fair week. Some chose to go out of town for some R & R. All reported having a nice nine days of vacation.
A funeral was help on Thursday, September 26th for Mr. Albert Lebo at Crain's Funeral Home with burial in the Mt. Pisgah Church cemetery. Lunch was served in the fellowship hall for the family. One of kids told me he would pick a Magnolia bloom for his wife. This was a favorite for Ms. Carolyn. I also learned that he was a man of many surprises. Mr. Albert will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Continue to pray for the sick, families who have lost beloved ones and each other. Also, Lord we need some rain. Mrs. Doris Corkern is really sick, please pray for her and the family.
I look forward to visiting with you next week, same time, same station. Be safe and keep on Smiling, prayerfully Nell.
