Parish Playoff Picture - The parish playoff picture has narrowed down with Franklinton and Pine losing their first round games last week. This leaves only the Bogalusa Lumberjacks still playing. The Jacks will be on the road to face the Lutcher Bulldogs, a perennial playoff team which has loads of playoff experience.
One of the biggest things working in the Jacks favor is their coach's experience. Coach Cyril Crutchfield has led teams on many playoff runs and won several championships and he has the Jacks playing on a high level at just the right time. In fact, the Jacks, who are led on the field by their speedy sophomore quarterback Ashton Levi, are very reminiscent of one of his championship teams at South Plaquemines that was led by a speedy, talented quarterback named Ridge Turner.
Exciting times for the Lumberjacks.
Notes and Quotes
"I hate it for our kids, especially the seniors. They have worked extremely hard to get the program back in the right direction. Our guys have been through a lot of adversity the last couple of years and I'm proud of how they responded. Our young guys are talented and this experience will help the program moving forward. I'm thankful for all of our fans and support groups that showed up to support our team, forever and always Go Demons!" ---Franklinton head football coach Jonathon Barber
"It was a tough loss. The team fought hard. We have the lead with about six minutes left and couldn't close it out. I'm proud of our team and the way we played all year." ---Pine head football coach Bradley Seal
"I could not be more proud of the growth in our young men and program, not just last year to now but from week six to now. Really played a complete game last night, winning all three parts of the game and the physical and mental part of the game. These kids, coaches, school and community needed this one and I couldn't be happier for all." ---Denham Springs head football coach Brett Beard
"Adjustments was the name of the game last night! Defensively we had to adjust to some things they were doing but once we figured it out, we were able to stifle their offense. Defense was led by Zamian Waller, Javae Gilmore, Ashton Wilson and Simeon Powell. Offensively Jalen Robinson was stellar once again with a couple of touchdown passes and Brennan Harrell cracked 150 yards rushing again. I total pleased with the effort but now we gotta fix, work on penalties!" ---Amite head football coach Zephaniah Powell
