Parish Playoff Picture - This week we'll continue looking at the playoff picture for the four parish teams with two weeks to go before the playoffs.
Franklinton finished with a 23 seed and will travel to 10 seed and district opponent Lakeshore. The winner of this game will play the winner of the 7 Cecilia - 26 Beau Chene game. If Franklinton wins, they would be at home against either team in the second round.
Bogalusa finished with a nice 11 seed and will play 22 Jennings at home. If Bogalusa wins, they would play the winner of the 6 Lutcher - 27 Carroll game. Bogalusa would travel to Lutcher but host Carroll in the second round.
Pine got a 16 seed and will host 17 East Feliciana. If Pine wins, they will play the winner of the 1 Many - 32 Independence game. Pine would travel to Many but host Independence.
Notes and Quotes
We didn't start the way we really wanted to, but we did respond immediately every time we were challenged. We have to clean up the penalties because that's really the only thing that kept them in the game during the first half, we had 3 long touchdowns called back. We played well in the 4th on both sides of the ball and that allowed us to get the win.
Lakeshore is an opponent we are familiar with. Our last game there was during the fair and it was probably our worst performance of the season. Our kids are excited to be back in the postseason, and we look forward to this challenge. Go Demons! ---Franklinton head football coach Johnathan Barber.
"Good way to close out the regular season. We played well in all three phases. We need to build on this going into the playoffs." ---Pine head football coach Bradley Seal
"It's been a long year. We have had a ton of injuries and when you are short on numbers it's really hard to adjust. We had kids playing positions they had never played before last night but they done everything I asked them. They fought until the end. We have to get some more kids out next year and need to have a good spring and summer. We move back to 1A next year where we belong and that will help our program a lot. Having to play up every week is hard on our kids. It will be nice to start back playing schools our size. We are losing three kids but they are quality kids. Ashton Smith, Malik Patterson and Christian Fox are our seniors and you can't run across better kids. I'm going to miss them but there is no doubt they will be successful no matter what they do. I wish all our kids were as committed and dedicated as they are. It's definitely something for other kids to work towards." --- ---Varnado head football coach Adam Brumfield
"Not exactly the way we wanted to end week ten, struggled with mistakes and missed tackles and once again couldn't capitalize on momentum and getting turnovers. It's the little details we can get cleaned up this week as we head into the playoffs. The kids are excited and our program is trending in the right direction, I look forward to watching our kids play in this earned opportunity." --- Denham Springs head football coach Brett Beard
"Last night was a playoff atmosphere! Both teams fighting for power points. A scoring fest. The very talented St Helena took the opportunity of a having a great quarterback to outscore us and get important power points to move them up in the LHSAA playoff bracket. As of now we look to be going to the team favored to win state going in at #1 seed, Many high. We are excited to be in the playoffs. The positive is our tough schedule has helped prepare us for a tough challenge ahead. Looking forward to another great week of football." ---Independence head football coach Scott Shaffett
"Complete game last night in all phases. Offensively we were able to move the ball both throwing and running and we had no turnovers. Jalen Robinson was stellar once again from the quarterback position and Earl Jackson was electric with two touchdowns last night and our defense limited Kentwood to under 150 total yards of offense." --- Amite head football coach Zephaniah Powell
