I had the privilege of attending the Highway Dedication Ceremony in memory of “Lt. Brian Anthony Nichols” on Monday, September 12.
The state of Louisiana named Highway 21 from the entrance of Rayburn Correctional Center (RCC) to the Louisiana-Mississippi state line the “Lt. Brian Anthony Nichols “Lt. Nic” Memorial Highway.
This honor is the result of Transportation Act 397 of the 2022 Legislative Session. Lt. Nichols was a Washington Parish native and Varnado High School Alumni. He will be remembered as a son, husband, father and friend. This ceremony was attended by Lt. Nichol’s family, friends, RCC staff, Rep. White, Senator Mizell and Sheriff Seal.

*The church had Revival services on September 12-14. Pastor Kerry James preached messages of hope and encouragement for all. He reminded us that we need to keep Trusting God, remain Faithful/Don’t Quit and always remember that every human being has a soul. Amen.
New Beginning Ministry (Seal Rd./Angie):
*The Theme for Worship Service on Sunday, Sept. 18th was:” Breaking the Limitations”. (2 Kings 6). Amen.

Varnado High School VHS:
* State Representative and VHS Alumni Melinda White recently presented VHS with an American and a LA State Flag.
*The Concerned Citizens of Angie (Live Oak/Varnado/Wesley Ray Communities) donated funds to support the school’s Band Program.
*Mrs. Denise Evans-Robinson will be the 2022 Homecoming Parade Grand Marshal this year. Mrs. Robinson is an Angie native and a 1988 graduate of VHS. She is the owner of Perfectly Vinyl Prints, a Travel Agency, Picture Perfect (all by D & B), and D&B Transportation (local taxi service). The Homecoming Parade is on Thursday, October 6th @ 5:30pm. *Congratulations Mrs. Robinson!!
Reflections:
* Being lonely and being alone can have two different meanings. When someone is lonely this indicates they are sad about the situation. They might wish for a call, text, email or visit, from another human being. On the other hand, being alone can be considered as “me-time”. That is a time that one chooses to be by themselves to meditate, read, listen to music, etc. I personally enjoy some occasional quiet time to myself to relax and rejuvenate. If you are lonely let somebody know through a call, text, email or visit. Take care everyone, GPigott*
