Wesley Ray UMC:
*On May 6th, the United Methodist Men Club treated the ladies to dinner, in honor of Mother’s Day. This is an endearing annual occasion. I enjoyed the fellowship and all present seemed to also. Many thanks to the men of the church for such a pleasant evening.
Live OakUMC:
*Pastor August preached from John 14 and reminded those of us present that Jesus said “Don’t Be Troubled”. He shared that because Jesus is “The Way”, “The Truth” and “The Life”, we don’t have to be troubled by our circumstances, if we Trust Jesus.
New Beginning Ministries:
*Pastor Spikes’ sermon was from Genesis 15:1-6 and was entitled: “A Word From God”. He shared that when we hear a word from God things change, if we Trust God and remember that God is saying that we should “Fear Not!”
School News:
Varnado High School (VHS):
*Congratulations to VHS Alumni Andre! Jones on getting drafted into the NFL (Pick 233 / Round 7 / Washington Commanders).
*Naya Bell, Lakendra Bullock, Alexus Johnson, Drucilla Lewis, Ranhyia Lewis, Teayanna Mark, Tyona Sheridan, Kali Simmons and Asher Traylor are the members of the 2023-2024 Flag Team. Bryana Moses will serve as captain and Skyler Magee-Manager. Congratulations to all!
*Senior Zamoriyon Washington competed in the LHSAA Class 1A State Track meet at LSU and placed 6th place in the state 100 meter dash. Congratulations on a Successful season!
Wesley Ray Elem. (WRE):
*The VHS Senior “Walk-Through” is Friday, May 12th
*Field Day will be held on Tuesday, May 16th.
*The Headstart End-of-the-Year program is on Wednesday, May 17th @ 9am and WRE 5th graders will tour VHS @ 10am.
