Hello Everyone, The Village of Angie has yet another reason to celebrate. The Grand Opening for “The Gathering Village Community Playground” was held on Sunday, May 21st, complete with a traditional “Ribbon-Cutting” ceremony. The theme for the playground is: “Where Everybody Is Somebody”. Live Oak UMC:
*The church held an Educational Awards Recognition Program that included honorees from daycare, Pre-K to college. The three high school graduates were: Chaston Dyson, Ka’sia McGowan and Dameon Roberts, Jr. The department chairpersons for the church are: Shannon Dyson/Children’s Dept.; Anna Moses/Youth Dept.; Tenisha Dyson-Foster/Young Adult and Gloria Roberts/Educational Presentations. The speaker for this occasion was Amy Brown-Spikes (Elementary School Teacher). She spoke about “Finishing Strong'' and used Proverbs 4:25-27, as her scriptures of reference. Pastor August’s closing remarks were we should “Aim High and Stay Focused. A celebration breakfast was held after the program. I was able to be in attendance for this celebration and want to Congratulate all on their “Educational Accomplishments''.
Pilgrims Rest MBC:
*The congregation held their Annual May day Service on Sunday, May 21st. Rev. Louis Smith preached from the book of John 21:14-17. The subject for his sermon was: Feeding Jesus’ Sheep with the Word of God.
Mt. Zion BC (Varnado):
*A Graduate Recognition Program was held on Sunday, May 21st. All graduates received certificates of achievement in appreciation for their accomplishments. In addition, gifts and/or scholarships were presented as well. A Fellowship Meal was served after service in honor of the graduates. *Congratulations to ALL!

*Dr. K’s Family Medicine 2023 Scholarship Recipients from VHS are: Debriana Weary $1000 and Kazavion McGowan $100. Congratulations Graduates!
*Former VHS graduate LaDarrick Smith gave a presentation to share his knowledge about scholarships with the Class of 2024, on May 17th. LaDarrick is currently a Junior at Morehouse College in Georgia.
