Christmas time is here! Now if the weather would corporate and make up its mind about if it should be cold or not, that would be great! This muggy nasty weather has got to go, because we are ready to see all the Christmas lights and do the Christmas things. You just can’t do that in the warm, muggy weather in my opinion.
This past week a soldier came home 81 years after his death at Pearl Harbor. Seaman Houston Temples was buried in the Veteran Section of Ponemah Cemetery. I am so very grateful for his sacrifice and that of so many others for our freedoms that we have today. I wish everyone could fully understand the patriotism and love of country that these ladies and gentlemen have/have had for our country. We could never thank them enough for all they have done for us.
Enon Baptist Church will have a church-wide Christmas caroling event on December 21st at 6 pm. Our Christmas Day activities will be a 10 am worship service only. December 28th will resume regular Wednesday night activities. We have made a lot of head way on the Children’s Playground area and hopefully it will be put together very soon. Parent’s Night Out had a great time Saturday night! The kids made cookies, played games, and had a wonderful time while the parents were able to go out or just stay home and relax a minute.
Happy birthday to Bobbie Taber, Ivy Spencer, Cole Williams, Alyssa LeBlanc, Avery Daniels, Cindy Stafford, and Olivia FitzSimons.
Condolences to the families of Roy Alberts, William Bedwell, Ann Jackson, and those who have lost loved ones unexpectedly this past week. Please be in prayer for our younger generation who are having to deal with so much, it must be so overwhelming for them. There is so much turmoil going on in the world and it absolutely breaks my heart for them.
The Enon Elementary School Pre-K class is looking for Cake Kit Donations. They will be collecting them from December 12th to December 16th. (Items needed are aluminum pans, cake mix, icing, candles, and sprinkles)
The 4-H Club is doing a Toy Drive for Christmas as well. Thank you for all of your donations. Santa’s Secret Workshop was a HUGE success this past week. The students loved being able to purchase gifts for their families and have them wrapped up for Christmas.
December 16th will be a $1 dress day. December 19th will be Ugly Sweater with jeans, December 20th will be Christmas PJ’s and a half day of school. (let out is at 11:30 am) Christmas Break will begin December 21st and students will return January 9th.
Make sure you visit the Enon Library Facebook page. If you want to know what is going on at the library and the events they will be having, you can join their email newsletter by scanning the QR code on their FB page. I know that the ladies would love to see you, so go check out a book, video, or just hang out a minute.
I hope you all have a wonderful week. Feel free to email me any upcoming events that are going on. (karen.thigpen@yahoo.com) Until next time……..
