Well, Christmas has come and gone for another year. I hope you all were able to spend time with loved ones and enjoyed your time. Christmas is one of my favorite times of year, and sometimes when we miss or forget something we say we will do it next year. Sometimes next year was 5 years ago, but I keep shooting to accomplish it for the next year! Next year I may start on November 1st to get everything completed.
Enon Baptist Church had a great time Christmas caroling last week. Many of the Youth, Children in Action, and other church members went to various houses throughout the community. We had a wonderful Christmas service with lots of beautiful music and a word from Brother Chris. There will be no services this Wednesday.
Happy birthday to Gary Gatewood, Robin Jones, Janette Botter, Megan Pace, my awesome sister-in-law Natalie Sharp, Judy Thigpen, Luke Fitzsimons, Tonya Sharp, Justin Thomas, Christy Kent, Jackie Epps Wild, Jill Jones, Mandy Fussell, Ashley Royerre Talley, Ann Creel, Thomas Mitchell, and Melanie Thigpen.
Late Happy Anniversary to my brother Mike Sharp and his wife Natalie.
Enon Baptist Church has received about half of their Lottie Moon Christmas Offering goal. If you would like to donate, there are envelopes in the back of the church. The next Ladies Bible Study will be “iMarriage” by Andy Stanley, it will begin on January 11, 2023
Enon Elementary School had a grand turn out for the Christmas Program performed by 1st-3rd grades. Mrs. Brittany Bryant Galloway and her helpers did a great job, and the kids enjoyed every minute of it. We had an amazing turn out for decorating our yearly Christmas Trees. It amazes me at the creativity the students have and how well they do. Students and staff were able to wear ugly sweaters one day last week and pajamas the next day. Santa and one of his elves visited the students on our half day. He was escorted in by District #8 Fire Department. The Gifted Students did candy science and building fun our last week of school. Pre-K students did a fabulous job getting cake donations for the local food bank. Thank you for all your donations and supplies. Students will return to school on January 9, 2023.
The Enon Library will be open December 27th to December 29th 9 am to 5 pm and closed December 30th to January 2nd. The ladies at the library had some sweet little carolers come sing to them last week.
Congratulations to Christina Knause for winning the Christmas drawing for a gift certificate to Winn Dixie. You can win as well by entering the drawing when you check out a book or DVD at your library. Thank you to the Friends of the Washington Parish Library for their support.
I hope you all have a rejuvenating week and a HAPPY NEW YEAR! Thank you for all the kind words of appreciation for me writing this article weekly, but it is you I should applaud and thank! I appreciate all of you and pray you have a wonderful new year ahead. Until next week……
