Oh, my goodness! Franklinton High School’s Homecoming game was one for the books! We all had a WONDERFUL time visiting with friends (especially the Class of 1993) and the game was a nailbiter to say the least! The game was not going so well in the beginning, then it was back and forth and THEN we WON! The score was 42-35 Demons! It has been a while since I have been to such an exciting game, and of course the friends we sat with made our day as well!
So, this was Homecoming Week, Friday the 13th, and the week before the Fair, which in teaching terms makes for insanity! Oh, and there is some type of solar eclipse. Education, medical field, police officers, etc know that makes for an interesting time to say the least. I am just thankful to have Fair week off and relax a little, but who am I kidding? I will be back and forth at the Fair, running the roads, and having fun. I hope to see y’all at the Washington Parish Free Fair, I will probably see y’all at the Jones Cabin in Mile Branch.
Good luck to all of our Enon Eagles who have crafts, food, stories, posters, art, livestock, etc entered at the Fair. The 4th-6thgrade will be performing on stage Thursday at 11 am. I can’t wait to see them perform! Last week was National School Lunch Week and we are oh so thankful for our lunchroom workers! They are the absolute best. The week of October 23rd to 27this Red Ribbon Week. Monday will be “Band Together” redshirt and uniform bottoms, Tuesday “Team Up” jersey shirt and uniform bottoms, Wednesday “Take Pride in Yourself” patriotic red, white, and/or blue shirt and uniform bottoms, Thursday “Too Bright” your favorite neon colored top and uniform bottoms, and Friday $1 Denim Day. Our EES State Young Author Winners received their medals and a copy of the anthology. We are so proud of them!
Enon Baptist Church will see you at the Fair! We will be handing out tracks, working the water booth, and the coffee booth at various times. Stop by and say hello! You will also see our float in the parade. We hope you all have a wonderful but SAFE time at the Fair! Condolences to the families of Roger Varnado, Virginia Wedgeworth Spencer, Beau George. Happy birthday to my niece Angela Gay, Brenda Voth Bowen, Cindy Pace, Lauren Modlin, Brandon Thomas, and my brother-in-law David Thigpen.
I know many folks are taking a much needed vacation this week. I hope you all have a wonderful time and feel free to share pictures and information with me for my article. This year will be a little different for me, but I will go have fun, visit, reminisce, listen to the picking and grinning, and make memories. See yall next time!
