Thank you Lord for Spring Break! As I sit here and type this, I am sitting on the beach somewhere. Just kidding --- I am in Gulf Shores on the beach for the first time in a long while. I can hear the seagulls chattering, the waves rolling in, and people laughing. We have always been folks who traveled to the mountains, but oh my, the beach with that salt water is soothing to my soul! Now I am one of those people who needs to see what is in the water with me, I don’t want any surprises touching my feet! I will probably spend more time in the pool rather than the gulf where something could possibly touch my leg. I would hate to put on a show if a jellyfish, shark, or kraken swam by! Ha!
Remember school is out through April 18th and will resume on April 19th, which just so happens to be Annalise’s 15th birthday and James’ birthday as well. Annalise is not thrilled about having to go back to school on her birthday and start state testing that week. (She attends FHS, so my EES parents don’t stress out!) Congrats to our PBIS raffle winners, Chris Magee, Lisa Kuhn, Joseph Miller, Arabella Gay, Dione Deluca, and Karissa Rogers.
4-H Achievement Day was April 8th and our Enon Eagles received 1st place for Chant, 2nd place Overall, and 3rd place for Most Active Club. There were many other individual awards as well. Great Job Eagles!
The week of April 19th to 22nd will be a fun week of a variety of dress days. April 19th wear the color that represents your grade level (Pre-K blue, Kindergarten red, 1st orange, 2nd green, 3rd yellow, 4th purple, 5th pink, 6th tie dye), April 20th wear your favorite sports shirt/jersey with jeans, April 21st Rock you Favorite Decade (This is also Pre-K field trip, so regular uniform for them), and April 22nd Dress Like A Farmer Day (This is also Kindergarten field trip, so regular uniform for them.)
The Enon Library had a drawing for a Giant Chocolate Easter Bunny and the winner was Beau Eckert, congrats! The Enon Library has an amnesty program for late fines, a food for fines if you will. So, if you have late fines at any of the libraries, check in with them and see what you can do. Stop by and visit our sweet ladies at the library. You never know what good book you may find, and the conversation is always nice.
Enon Baptist Church has a goal of $1,200 for the Annie Armstrong Offering. If you would like to give, you can message Brother Chris or drop off at church. There was a good turn out for church on Sunday with Dinner on the Grounds and the Easter Egg Hunt. The church is accepting any donations for: Operation Christmas Child, Washington Parish Food Bank, and any Box Tops, Community Coffee coupons, and Aluminum can tabs. We appreciate this very much. Block Party is April 30th from 10 am to 2 pm. Easter Services next week will be Sunrise Service on front steps at 7 am, Sunday School at 9:30 am, Morning Worship at 10:45 am, and no evening activities. Blessing of Food will be April 23rd.
Condolences to the families of Travis Thomas and Mitch Welch. Happy birthday to one of our favorite Art Teachers Taffenie Mizell, Bobby Varnado, Virginia Bateman Dixon, Debbie Bilbo Lee, Siera Williams, and Leigh Ann Jones O’Keefe. Happy anniversary to all those celebrating as well. If I missed your birthday or anniversary, I do apologize!
On a different note, a couple of weeks ago my niece was about to cross the road to get on the school bus and head to school. As she was about to step out, a gravel truck ran right through the stop arms of the STOPPED school bus with lights flashing and STOP ARMS OUT. Y’all! PLEASE be careful all the time, but especially when school is in session! I could talk to you all day about bus safety, since my dad and both brothers are former bus drivers. I could never do it, but its in my blood. PLEASE pay attention to your surroundings and drive safe. (and SLOW DOWN) Glad to say my niece and her bus driver were paying attention that morning.
