This last week District #8 Fire Department suffered a great loss. Chief James Jones passed away. Chief was a proud Vietnam veteran, who was a helicopter crewman and mechanic during the war. He was then a truck driver both locally and cross country. Chief James Jones was our fire chief since the district’s formation in 1994. His comical, but dry humor and wit was sure to have you laughing. He is survived by his wife Robin, children Melanie, Michael, and Megan, along with grandchildren, and other family. We will miss him dearly.
Some of the ladies of our community had a nice lunch with Aunt Janie Thigpen this past week. It is always a special time to gather and enjoy each other’s company. There is always laughter, stories, and recipes to share with one another.
Enon Baptist Church had a great turn out for our Block Party on Saturday. Thank you to all who helped and participated. The Ladies’ Bible Study will meet on May 4th. Business Meeting will be this Wednesday at 6 pm. May 14th all ladies are invited to an Afternoon Ladies Tea at 3 pm. We will also be gathering items for the Crisis Pregnancy Center. (diapers, baby wipes, baby wash, baby lotion, bottles, and other baby care items)
Mother’s Day is May 8th. I know we have a special day set aside to celebrate mothers, but I try to remember to celebrate daily. Happy Mother’s Day mama! I love you!

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Thank you to all the teachers out there working day in and day out to help educate our future leaders.
Registration is still open for Pre-K, contact Enon Elementary for further information. Pre-K and Kindergarten are practicing diligently for their end of the year program. We are all looking forward to showing off for everyone.
By the way, we were able to attend the Garth Brooks concert in Tiger Stadium on Saturday. I am excited to say that when he sang Callin’ Baton Rouge it registered on the Richter Scale on campus. I had a feeling it would, so for the second time in my lifetime, it happened, lol I hope you all have a wonderful week…
