Game of the Week - Franklinton (4-1) at Lakeshore (5-0). I don't normally select the same team two weeks in a row; however, this game will be huge. It is likely the district championship or at least will be big in determining the district champion. Demons are currently 1 in the power ratings while the Titans are at 3. The winner will get a boost while the loser will have to dig their way back up the rankings.
The Demons struggled with Sumner's Wing T offense and that is what Lakeshore also operates on offense.
Should be a good one.
Notes and Quotes
"First of all, let me compliment them, Sumner is a very good football team. I've never been around a group of guys who have persevered like this. We're playing with a little bit of a chip, people have forgot about Franklinton. They've forgot what Shane Smith did at Franklinton for a long time. We don't get a lot of publicity, we didn't get a single vote which is amazing to me because we have now beaten three ranked teams and the one loss was to a very good, undefeated Covington team. We have the ability to do things that are special, tonight was special. You're coming on the road to a 4-0 team who is extremely talented and come back from two scores, twice, have a two point conversion called back, go for two and make it and have a ninth grader come in and kick the field goal to win it. I'm proud of them."
--- Nick Saltaformaggio, Franklinton coach
"Our team played well from the start in all three phases of the game. Trey knight had a nice game passing with over 200 yards and two touchdowns to Delvonta Gardner. Next week we start district at Albany and we must be prepared."
---Bradley Seal, Pine coach.
"We had great effort by all the kids last night, we are now 2-0 in district and we have one more to win so we can be district champions." ---Destin Pittman, Bens Ford coach
"Big district win for us tonight. We were not as sharp as we hope to be but the kids adjusted to what the coaches changed and got the job done. Proud of our kids on winning the district championship and now got to finish it up this week against Centerville."
---Phill Junkins, Bowling Green coach
“Pine has a good football team. Coach seal does a good job. I thought our kids played hard, bit it’s always a challenge when you play up 2 classes. Hopefully we can bounce back next week vs west St. John. It’s homecoming week so it will be full of distractions, but if we can keep our focus and practice well we can give ourselves a chance to win.” ---Adam Brumfield, Varnado coach
