Hope you are enjoying the beautiful sunshine for at least two or three days with no rain. It hasn't rained here Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and believe it or not, I got some mowing done. By the way, last night (Thursday) I did hear some thundering, probably will rain the next few hours. We can be thankful for everything the Lord sees fit for us, whether it is rain or sunshine.
Last Sunday service our attendance was down, under 30, for July 11th. Bro. Scott's message was taken from Joshua 8:1 entitled "Principles of Spiritual Victory". There was sin in the camp; once it was dealt with, they were back on board. It is like that with us, if we aren't careful, we'll fall into Satan, he is ready and waiting for us to slip up. Therefore, we must put on the whole armor of God, so we can withstand the problem. We are to be prepared for spiritual conflict. The Lord never gives up on us. God knows we are going to be faced with defeat and that is why we need to know Him so we can stand strong. We can claim the Victory in Jesus because He came and died for us and have been freed to claim our victory in Him.
Every Sunday we recognize those who have had a birthday or anniversary that week and sing to them. Linda Miller had a birthday on Sunday; Richard Schilling, who was visiting with us, will have his birthday next week. It was good to have him visit with us. He had lunch that day with Jean and Frances.
*Reminder* Kid's Day has been set for Saturday and Sunday, July 24th and 25th. Saturday activities will begin at 3 pm and Sunday is regular time. Sunday School at 9:30 am and worship at 10:30 am. Come join us for fun activities, food, fellowship and a spiritual blessing.
Joshua Burch recently spent two weeks with his dad Charlie and other family members. While visiting, he celebrated his 10th birthday and other fun things. The first celebration was held at his dad's on Saturday night, June 19th. The kids enjoyed playing water games, slip-n-slide, water hose and balloons. Approximately forty were in attendance. Members of the family attending were Sara, Chris, Barbara, Evelyn, Shelby Jr., his dad Charlie and Jose'. Hot dogs, chicken, plus other side dishes and fruit filled birthday care were enjoyed by all. The second celebration was on his actual birthday, June 22nd, held at Evelyn Burch's home. Taco Soup, chips and dip, Cherry Delight, birthday cake and ice cream were on the menu. Attending were Sara, Barbara, Charlie, Jose' and Shelby Jr. I was invited on both occasions and enjoyed being with the family. While visiting he enjoyed going to Global Wildlife, to the movies, and out to eat. His dad went to get him in Florida and his mom, Margaret, came to pick him up. He made lots of memories while visiting.
