It's the last week of 2022, and hopefully the last of having temperatures in the teens and 20's. Christmas was great, but I think most of us will gladly welcome the spring-like temps as we welcome in the new year.
The Mt. Hermon (District 9) Fire Department is now selling BBQ chicken dinners for February 25th. The cost is $11 and includes half a chicken, baked beans, potato salad, bread and a piece of cake. To purchase a ticket, please see any volunteer, or you may call or text 985-335-0685. Dinners are to be picked up from the Mt. Hermon Ruritan Club, February 25th from 11 AM-1 PM.
The Gill siblings, along with spouses, gathered last week at the home of Earl and Rachel Gill for an early Christmas dinner. Siblings present were Earl Gill, Daniel Gill, Linda Tamor, Marie Webb and Cindy Reynolds. They all enjoyed visiting with each other and sharing lots of laughs.

The MHS Jackettes were invited to perform last Wednesday night at the New Orleans Bowl Game. If you were tuned in to ESPN, you may have seen them. The talented ladies who performed were Emily Bulloch, Emily Dillon, McKenlyn Garcia, Kamryn Huval and Jessica Spears. A special thanks goes out to the Jackettes sponsor, Mrs. Misty Sammons.
Three member of the MHS Family are retiring: Mrs. Cherrie Brumfield-MHS School Bus Driver, 27 years; Mrs. Joni Sanders-MHS Paraprofessional, 25 years; and Mr. Dan Slocum - District 1 School Board Member, 26 years. They were honored at the MHS Faculty and Staff Christmas Luncheon last Tuesday. Each one was graciously thanked for their years of service and their positive impact that they have bestowed upon MHS. Congratulations and Happy Retirement to you all!
Bogue Chitto Baptist Church will celebrate New Year's Eve this Saturday at 6 PM in the Family Center. A meal will be served, then a fireworks show at 7:30 PM.
Mt. Hermon Baptist Church gathered in the evening of Christmas Eve, with a candlelight service, to celebrate Christ the Savior's birth. They gathered again Christmas morning. Despite the cold temps, they were blessed to worship with their church family.
Wednesday night activities at Mount Hermon Baptist Church will resume January 11th.
Mt. Hermon United Pentecostal Church invites all to start the new year off right by joining us in church this Sunday, January 1st at 10 AM. We also have Prayer Meeting every Tuesday evening at 7 PM. Wednesday evening services begin at 7 PM, and classes for children and youth of all ages are available.
