With the cool temperatures, last Saturday was the perfect day for a chili cook-off at Silver Creek Campground. Congrats to the winners! 1st place: Chili Chili Bang Bang/Paula and Celia Painter, 2nd place: Fat Daddy/James and Sissy Carpenter, People's Choice: Notcho Chili/Junie Goings and Quanita Charmadelle.
Mt. Hermon School
The Mt. Hermon School Teachers of the Year were recently honored at the WPSS Teacher of the Year Banquet, which was held at Bo's Steakhouse. Congratulations to MHS Elementary Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Leanna Kerbow and MHS Jr. High Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Lynn Lewis. A special congratulations to Ms. Tiffany Williams, MHS English teacher, for being selected as the Washington Parish High School Teacher of the Year!
MHS Sr. Beta Club rocked the State Beta Convention and brought home many awards! The Beta Club was a G.O.L.D. Key Award Recipient for growth. Deshaun James won Champion for his design and production of the MHS Beta Club Trading Pin. Jessica Spears won for her Solo Performance and will now compete at Nationals. Jessica also received a Golden Ticket for being a Premier Performer. McKenzie Fountain placed 3rd in the Recyclable Art Division and the Book Battle Team placed 4th in the state. MHS is so proud of the Beta Club, and very thankful for their amazing sponsors, Ms. Tiffany Williams, Mrs. Miranda Fountain and Mrs. Marie Rando.
MHS Elementary District Young Author winners are: Paige Brooks, Amira Dykes, Shavonne Dyson, Abigail Johnson, Kade McClendon, Reedan Smith and Karmen Stokes. Their entries will now compete in the State Young Author's Contest.
The Agriculture students of Mrs. Sandra Givens take pride in the upkeep of the school's landscape. They have been busy trimming rose bushes, shaping hedges, cutting back Crepe Myrtles and more. The campus is now ready for Spring!
Dr. Seuss Week, for Pre-K through 6th grades only, is February 27th-March 3rd. A flier was sent home with students listing what they can wear each day.
Mt. Hermon Baptist Church
The Youth group will be serving a meal this Sunday, February 26th, immediately following the morning worship service. This is to help cover expenses of summer camp.
The Senior Adults had a great time last Monday at their Valentine's party. With over 20 in attendance, they all enjoyed lots of good food, games and entertainment provided by Bubba Roberts.
Men's Breakfast is Sunday, March 5th at 8 AM.

Mt. Hermon United Pentecostal Church
Louisiana cuisine was the menu at our Valentine Banquet last Wednesday night. From crawfish etouffee and jambalaya to pralines and king cake, you name it, we had it! Everyone enjoyed all the delicious food and fellowship.
If you haven't been yet, it's never too late! Hope Alive, faith based recovery to help anyone with hurts, habits and hang-ups, meets on Sunday nights. Doors open at 6:15 PM for refreshments and fellowship, followed by the study at 7 PM. Next Sunday night, March 5th, we are welcoming Bro. Robbie Cutrer to share his testimony. Pastor Randall Garcia said in his message last Sunday, "It's time to get out of the waiting room!"
