The Community Prayer Walk at MHS is back! Saturday, July 29th at 8 AM, is encouraged to meet in front of the school office, then walk around the campus as we pray for safety and success for the upcoming school year. Hopefully, it will be cooler that early in the day.
Watermelons have made it to Schilling's Farm and Market! Prices range from $8-$15 for red meat and $15 for yellow meat. Grown in Mt. Hermon! They are delicious!
Silver Creek Campground will have their 4th of July celebration this weekend! Friday, June 30th, 7-11 PM, will be DJ/Karaoke. Saturday, July 1st at 1 PM, games will start to be played. At 7 PM, Sheauxdown Band will perform, followed by the amazing Firework Show at 9:30 PM.
Mt. Hermon School
A huge congratulations to Weston Fortenberry for winning 3rd place in the nation at the National Jr. Beta Convention, in the category of Artistic Drawing! After winning 1st place at the State Beta Convention in the spring, he advanced to the National level. MHS is very proud of your accomplishment!
MHS student, Jacob Webster, recently completed the Child Development Associate class through the Dual Enrollment program at Northshore Technical Community College. Congratulations, Jacob on a job well done!
Bogue Chitto Baptist Church had a wonderful week at Keepers of the Kingdom VBS! The children raised over $400 to give to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home. That's an amazing offering! Sunday night was Family Night, where parents, grandparents and everyone could see what all the children made during the week and also to hear the songs they learned.
Sunny Hill Baptist Church will have Vacation Bible School July 20th-22nd from 6 PM-7:30 PM. Children from age 4-9 are welcome to learn about "The Armor of God".
Mt. Hermon United Pentecostal Church had an amazing Sunday morning service with Pastor Randall Garcia bringing the message and the Praise Singers leading the worship. But before that, I walked into church about five minutes late and feeling disappointed in myself. Then I realized that Sis. Suzonne Garcia is singing "God is gonna be on time", and that is what really matters.
Sunday evening, before Hope Alive meeting, we had a birthday celebration for my dad, Earl Gill (June 25th) and Ms. Christina (June 23rd). Happy Birthday to you both!
It was Testimony and Chip Night at Hope Alive! Ryan Hunt shared his testimony. He wants everyone to know where God has brought him from and that there is HOPE!
The Young at Hearts met last Thursday at Mike's Catfish in Amite. Special guest was Joey Duncan who gave a devotion and songs. They had over twenty people in attendance. It was a wonderful time of fellowship for all!
Camp Meeting in Tioga, LA is July 4th-7th.
Next weekend, July 7th-9th, is the Washington Parish Watermelon Festival in Franklinton. Dean King and his band will be playing at the Rodeo on July 8th at 4:30 PM. He appreciates all the support and looks forward to seeing everyone there!
