It was another amazing Hope Alive meeting! This past Sunday evening, Brandi Thomas, from Tickfaw, shared with us her powerful testimony. She overcame drug and alcohol addiction, which would not have been possible without Jesus! It was also chip night! Hope Alive meetings are every Sunday evening at 7 PM, or come early at 6:15 PM, for food and fellowship. Anyone struggling with a hurt, habit or hangup is welcome.
This past Sunday afternoon was the first day of Hope Alive jail ministry. Mandi Boyd, Pattyce Hughes, Ryan Hunt and William McKee went into the jail to minister. They feel truly blessed to have the opportunity to do this.
Mt. Hermon School
The 2023 Washington Parish Fair shirts are now available for presale. Order forms have been sent home with students. This is a valuable fundraiser for our schools and our fair. Presale price is $18, and the deadline for school orders is September 4th.
The PAC (Positive Attitude Club) was at Dollar General this past Saturday collecting donations of bottled water and powder drink mixes with electrolytes to give to the fire department. Over fifteen students from the PAC were there to help collect the items. Many items were collected! Mrs. Joni Sanders and the Positive Attitude Club would like to thank the MHS Principal, Ms. Stacy Bond, for supporting them, the Dollar General for letting them set up in their parking lot and for their donations, to the Family Dollar/Dollar Tree for their donations and for those special friends that brought the idea to life. But most of all, they thank you all, the community. Mt. Hermon is a place where people take care of each other. It's a blessing to have such community support!
I'm thankful for the rain that we got over the weekend, but it is still dry. The burn ban is still in effect. Also, the fire department would love to have more volunteer firefighters and first responders. If you are interested, please call fire chief, Jeremy Freeman at 985-335-0306.
That's all for August! Be safe and have a blessed week.
