A Blue Star Memorial Dedication was held this past Saturday at Mt. Hermon School. A Blue Star Marker was dedicated to all the men and women who have served, currently serving or will serve our great country. Special thanks to the Mt. Hermon Garden Club and Ruritan Club.
Members of the Mt. Hermon Ruritan Club recently attended the National Convention in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Congratulations to the club President, Mr. Raymond Cade, on his new position as National Director!
The Mt. Hermon Ruritan Club's 2nd annual chili cook-off will take place next Saturday, February 10th, from 11 AM-1 PM, at the Ruritan clubhouse. For only $5 per person, you get to taste a wide variety of homemade chili prepared by the club members, then cast a vote for your favorite. District 9 (Mt. Hermon) Volunteer Fire Department is now taking orders for chicken dinner plates. The cost is $12 and it includes half a chicken, baked beans, potato salad, bread and cake. Congratulations to the 2024 MHS Homecoming Queen, Shunna Williams! Makennly Stinson (1st grader) was the flower girl, Raegan Smith (1st grader) was the crown bearer and Braylan Sibley (2nd grader) carried the sash.
The MHS Livestock Show Team represented Mt. Hermon School very well at the Parish Livestock Show. Congratulations to Timothy Magee and Faxon Coleman! Timothy won 1st in Senior Showmanship, 2nd in class with Petunia, 1st in class, Grand Champion and Supreme Grand Champion with Diva. Faxon won 2nd in Intermediate Showmanship, 1st in class and Reserve Grand Champion with Dusty and 2nd in class with Precious.

Softball Time! MHS will play Franklinton Junior High this Thursday at 5:30 PM at Franklinton High School.
Spring pictures will be taken next Friday, February 9th.
Sunny Hill Baptist Church
They invite all to worship the Lord with them on Sunday morning at 9 AM, worship service at 10 AM, Sunday evening service at 5 PM and Wednesday evening at 5 PM.
Mt. Hermon United Pentecostal Church
A baby shower will be held this Saturday at 2 PM in the church fellowship hall for Baby Judah. Marcaila and Jordan Catchings are excited about the upcoming arrival of their first son.
The youth group will have a luncheon this coming Sunday, February 4th at 11 AM, to raise funds for summer camps. Lunches include fried chicken, chicken dumplings, green beans, corn, roll, tea and dessert. The cost is only $10 for adults and $6 for children. We were very blessed to have Bro. John Russell as the guest speaker this past Sunday. He preached about the importance of acknowledging God.
Sunday evening was our 1 year anniversary of Hope Alive! Bro. John Russell shared with us his personal testimony of how he overcame addictions by the power of God. Recovery chips were also given out. Thank you to all who have supported this faith based recovery ministry over the past year. For anyone with a hurt, habit or hang up, please join us on Sunday evening at 6:15 for food and fellowship, then meetings at 7 PM.
