Hello to all my Mt. Hermon friends and family! Hope you are all doing well. This past Monday, President's Day was celebrated, but what I didn't realize was that this observed federal holiday is officially called "Washington's Birthday". I read an interesting article about George Washington in The Farmer's Almanac, titled "Presidents Day History, Folklore, and More", written by Catherine Boeckmann. She wrote that when Washington first became President, he was worried that he was not the right man for the job. Fortunately, for the country, he was wrong.
"Worry is the interest paid by those who borrow trouble." ----- George Washington (1732-99)
If you ordered chicken dinners from the District 9 (Mt. Hermon) Fire Dept., don't forget to pick them up this Saturday from 11 AM-1 PM at the Mt. Hermon Ruritan Club.
Please keep the family and friends of Mr. Richard Schilling in your prayers during their time of loss.
Congratulations to Major John Riles of Mount Hermon, who recently retired from the Louisiana State Police. At the time of his retirement, Major Riles was the longest-serving Trooper amongst the current personnel, spending the entirety of his 34-year career in the Patrol Division.
