Greetings all!
Hope you have rested from all the fun time at the fair.
This year's fair is history for another year, leaving us with lots of fond memories. I believe the weather was warmer this year. It did get a little cool at night. I can remember in years past, we would have our heavy jackets on and even long-johns to stay warm. We did get some rain after the parade. At 8:30 on Wednesday night, seven beautiful and talented young ladies graced the stage for the annual Fair Queen Contest. Winning the crown ways Lindsey McGehee. Our MHS girl, Alexis Magee, was in the queen contest, we thought you were beautiful even though you were not chosen. Congratulations to all the contestants for your participation in the contest.
The fair opened with the parade on Wednesday morning. The parade is always a big hit for those who participate and for all the spectators. Seeing all the decorated vehicles, floats and etc. is special and to wave at all the ones riding in the parade. The rest of the week was filled with a large assortment of music, singing, dancing, riding the carnival rides, livestock shows, seeing the exhibits and of course all the good foods. You name it, we had it.
There were some changes this year in Mile Branch Settlement. Some damage was done to buildings for a hurricane and were not open to the public. Also, due to not enough sitters, screen doors were put up for viewing, but not going inside. We had no singing in the Half-Moon Baptist church. The church was always a special place to sit, rest and sing ole time hymns and to get a free cup of coffee. The Senior Ladies' Prominade is always a hit, but it was also cancelled this year. Even though some events were cancelled, the other attractions/events went off without a hitch. Hopefully, nest year those will be back.
Happy November birthday to these special ones - My great-grandson Dylnn Fitzmorris, my cousins, Faith Terrell, Colton Terrell, and Justin Ingram, Evelyn Burch, Becky Magee, Lori Motichek, Lainey Scardina, Faith Miller, Trevor Stafford, Larry James, Rocky Burch, Erica Brooks, Alyssa Rando, Douglas Miller, Leo Tate, Jamie Mier, Dalton Lourigan, Brittney Burch, Sikoya Dillon, Dixie Borne, Dot Kinlaw, Rhonda Johnson, Mary Rogers, Harley Folks, Melissa Bankston Corkern, Margie Barber, Debra Freeman, Thannie Conerly, Sara Fowler, and Destyne Menard.
I attended the Jr. High Homecoming and football game at MHS. The young girls in their dressy attire entered the field on the arm of their escort. Hadyn Stafford was crowned Queen. Jaslyn Miller was escorted by her father Jason Miller. Our little petite Raegan Smith served as the sash bearer. The boys lost but did work hard. The first points were made by MHS, but they were shut-out the rest of the game. It was good seeing friends that I don't see often.
Be in prayer for the sick, shut-ins and the bereaved. God can and will take care of it all.
Thought for the week - Never discourage anyone who continually makes progress, no matter how slow - Plato
Until next week, take care of yourself.
