Greetings to all my faithful readers!
I sure do hope that your New Year's was a good one. Most of you had the traditional meal of black-eyed peas and cabbage and probably country corn bread.
It has been known that some believe that black-eyed peas and cabbage bring "good luck and prosperity". Well for me, I eat them because we have had the traditional meal on New Year's Day for as long as I can remember and also I like them. I believe that good fortune comes from the Lord and NO other place. By the way, I never make a New Year's resolution because they are mostly impossible to carry out. I take one day at a time, ask the Lord's leadership and go from there. Everyone to their own opinion.
Bryan and I had our traditional meal on New Year's Day. He cooked smothered cabbage and I cooked black-eyed peas, pork chops and corn bread fritters. We also got calls wishing us a "Happy New Year".
Happy birthday to my oldest son, William Allen "Bill", whose birthday is today. In talking with him, he was saying how cold it had been and will be happy when the cold weather is over because he has to be out in it every day at work.
The children and youth presented a Christmas program on Sunday night, December 19th. They did a great job singing Christmas carols and reading the Christmas story. Following the program, everyone enjoyed a variety of holiday treats and fellowship. By the way, thanks to Rachel who had everything decorated festive including a big decorated tree! She always does a beautiful job. A surprise guest visiting us was Santa.
Bryan and I were invited to have Christmas Day lunch with Jay and Laurie Schexnider. Other family members were there. The meal was wonderful including the visit. Laurie had the house inside and out beautifully decorated.
We have reached our LMCO goal for international missions. Thanks to those who made it possible.
