Holiday Greetings to you! Everywhere you look is a beautiful sight, Christmas decorations and twinkling lights. They can be seen in our town, Mt. Hermon and at the residents in our community. I can't help, but feel joy in my heart looking at them.
First of all let me say that the coverage in this weeks edition of The Era Leader was outstanding. All the colorful pictures of Pioneer Christmas, The Varnado Store Museum, the Senior Citizen Luncheon held at the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, the Mt. Hermon Christmas Parade and the sweet Santa letters written by the first grade students in our parish. I haven't read them all yet, but I did read the Santa letters written by our children at MHS. I love the way they spell, just like it sounds, but you do know what they are saying. I've subbed a lot for Ms. Tanna Brumfield 1st grade class. They are special children to me and all have a special place in my heart.
We promoted the week of prayer for International Missions and the LMCO. Prayer pamplets were handed out and encouraging everyone to pray for all the needs listed. The WMU ladies started the offering off with $51. The offering will go through January.

Bro. Leonard Smith's message on Sunday December 18h was entitled "The First Gift from our Father"; being the season that we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Varnado Museum and Mile Branch Pioneer Christmas was held the first weekend in December and it was well attended. The lighted Christmas Parade on Saturday night was really pretty with lighted floats, cars, and trucks. The participants also did a great job performing. There were people down town and on the side streets waiting to watch the parade all the way to the main gate. That night it was really foggy as well.
The annual Senior Citizen Christmas Luncheon was held at the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church on Monday , December 12th. The Mt. Hermon Student Council sponsored the event. Ms. Lahoma Vernon directed the MHS Choir in several Christmas selections. Everyone enjoyed the delicious meal and music. Attending from Mt. Pisgah were Frances, Linda Jean, Florrine and I.
Thought for the Week! "Remember the Reason for the Season". We celebrate the birth of our Lord, the greatest given.
Happy New Year to you! Be safe and warm on these cold days, Love Nell.
