Now that a brand new year, 2023 is here; seems that 2022 went fast and probably this one will go by fast also. The new year is a great time to get a fresh start. If we all try, we can make a difference. Treating others with kindness and respect is a great start. Let's all do our part in 2023.
The Mt. Hermon community Christmas parade was on Saturday morning, December 17th. This was the first time our church participated and it surely was a fun time. I hadn't rode in a parade in years. I think everyone enjoyed being part of this special event. There were eighteen who came that day. As we rode by it was great seeing those waving and children waiting to get candy/toys, etc. My treats for them were homemade brownies, peanut butter cookies along with assorted candies. Thanks to Rachel and Patty who planned it, to Marganie who drove the truck and others who had a part.

Teachers, bus drivers, and personnel were treated to a delicious lunch held at Skinny's Restaurant. The meal consisted of bbq chicken, ribs, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, and cake for dessert. Our principal Ms. Lee Bond recognized those who were retiring and wished everyone happy holidays. We all had a great time.
My son Bryan's work Christmas supper was held at the Golden Corral in McComb. His boss Brad welcomed everyone as they arrived and gave them a ticket for the door prizes. Everyone enjoyed a great buffet meal and visiting. Believe it or not my number was the first to be drawn which was $50 in cash. I was really surprised. Other door prizes were drawn. The gifts left on the table after the drawing were available for others to get. I enjoyed meeting some of Bryan's co-workers and their family.
On Christmas Day Bryan and I were invited to have lunch with Jay and Laurie Schexnider. Several family members were there. Our day was filled with visiting and a delicious meal prepared by Laurie and her mother.
Frances Schilling was happy to have members of the Schilling family gather at her home for their annual reunion. They enjoyed a day of friendship and a delicious meal.
We have several on the prayer list. Please join us as we pray for the needs in our community and surrounding area.
Thought for the week! Reflect on your present blessings of which every one has many; not on your past misfortunes, of which all have some. - Charles Dickens
