Greetings once again! Well folks, it's finally February. We surely have had some cold, windy and rainy days. Every two or three days we have a change in the weather. You might say, the weather is like some people, very unpredictable.
Folks let me tell you something. Most of you know our Mount Hermon School Homecoming parade was on Wednesday, January 25th. I had planned to wait to share with you next week, but I was bursting at the seams and could not wait. I count it a Red Letter Day, with lots of students participating, and being a special part; I was thrilled and had a wonderful time.
Our principal Ms Lee Boud did a great job organising the special event. As far as I could tell everything went off without a hitch. Being chosen to ride in the parade put me on cloud nine and it was worth being a little chilly. It was special hearing the children calling out to me "Hey Ms. Nell, put the icing on the cake," so to speak. If you really want to know the whole scoop, stay tuned for further details next week.
Once again my friend Frances and I saw the New Year, 2023. We carried out our tradition of blowing the car horn at the stroke of midnight. She invited me to go with her to her grandson Scott's house where we enjoyed yummy treats, sitting by the fire, and watching the kids shoot fireworks. It was delightful being able to see the beautiful array of colors up in the sky.
Calvin Tate hosted a Christmas party on Saturday, December 10th, 2022 for his workers, family and friends at Bo's Restaurant. Everyone enjoyed a meal of their choice. His daughter Christie was in charge of the games like Family Feud, name that tune , and the right and left story. Several prizes were awarded including cash door prizes. Approximately thirty people were in attendance and enjoyed a fun time together. Bryan and I were invited. Calvin was delighted to have everyone join him on this special occasion. He knows how to have a party.
Happy February birthdays to these special ones Jackie I. Smith (my sister), Kendra Alford (my granddaughter), Andre A. Williams (my granddaughter) Kimberlie Nicole Dennis (my granddaughters), Alaya Parise Graham (my great granddaughter), Wesley Owen Watson (my great nephew), Jennifer Vince (my cousin), Citizen Miller (my great granddaughter) D'Wayne Terrell, Casey Terrell, Donna Schilling, Juilt Schilling, Alyssa Miller, Kevin Wells, Alexis Traham, Rose Miley, Carolyn Lebo, Barbara Brock, Elizabeth Pasterio Hill, Jeff Bankston, J.R. Bankston, Howard James, Annette James, and Eden Miller.
Joshua Burch spent a few days during the holidays with his dad Charlie and other members of the family.
I attended the MHS Yellow Jackets Basketball games on Tuesday, January 17th. The visiting team was Maupepas. The girls played a good game and won by several points. Their final score was 50 with Maurepas having 22 points. The boys game was close until the last quarter when Maurepas took the lead, winning by eight points. Final score was MHS with 31 points and Maurepas with 39 points. It's always a special treat to see the Little Stingers and Stingerettes perform. They are so cute when cheering.
Saturday afternoon, December 17th, 2022 I was invited to join the Burch family Christmas held at Virginia Padgett’s. She had the house and yard beautifully decorated. Everyone pitched in and provided hot dogs and other party treats. That day was cold and there was a warm fire outside that was welcomed. Approximately 40 people were in attendance for gift exchanging and lots of fun.
Until next writing take good care of yourself. Prayerfully, Nell.
