Greetings to all my faithful readers! I hope this finds you doing well during all this cold and rainy weather.
Homecoming week at Mount Hermon School was a special time of celebrating and lots of fun. Every day students dressed in the theme of the day and some were really dressed up cute as could be. The Homecoming parade was Wednesday afternoon. First of all it was truly an honor to be named co-Grand Marshall. I rode in a horse driven carriage driven by Raymond Garcia. Also riding was Mrs. Romania Scott and two second graders, Carson Painter and Natalee Johnson. We enjoyed the ride, waving and throwing treats to everyone. The students were excited to see the parade and the candies. My friends Frances, Janice and Sue came to see the parade and they surprised me.
Friday afternoon everyone had fun at the Pep Rally cheering, dancing and kissing the cute little pig. Winning the most votes was Coach Matt and he had the privilege of kissing the pig. Finalizing the week of homecoming was on Friday night prior to the basketball games. The young ladies all dressed in their Sunday best from head to toe and were individually introduced. Adding that special touch to their attire was a pretty hat.
Participating in the 2023 MHS Homecoming Court were freshman maids Kailee Budde and Hadyn Stafford, sophomore maids were Camdyn Quin and Skye Williams, junior maids were Brooklyn Falgout and Shunna Williams and senior maid were Bailey Fortenberry, Blayke Brinker, Jolie Jones and Ju'Myrie Williams. Each contestant was escorted by a family member or friend across the basketball court and took their place on the stage decorated with black and gold balloons that formed an arch for the special occasion. Ju'Myrie Williams was crowned 2023 Homecoming Queen. Carson Painter carried the basketball and crown. Natalee Johnson carried the flowers.
I was also honored that night as MHS Homecoming Honoree and was escorted by two of my basketball girls Brooklyn Falgout and Shunna Williams. Principal Ms. Lee Bond presented me with a beautiful plaque that read, "MHS Homecoming Honoree for her timeless dedication, loyalty and support of Mt. Hermon School and community." It was also a special treat to have my son Bryan and my sister Jackie there with me. This was a very special time for me and I was loving every minute of it. The Yellow Jackets played Slaughter Community Charter School. This was truly a night to be remembered
Until next writing take good care of yourself.
