Yesterday was our country's birthday, the Fourth of July. Hopefully you had a fun, safe, day with your family and friends. We always look forward to eating Washington Parish sweet watermelons. MMM-good
The fathers were recognized during the Sunday morning worship hour at Mt. Pisgah. Bro. Leonard's message was on the role of fathers. Faith Miller sang a special. She did great.
On Father's Day, Bryan and I were treated to lunch at Applebee's in McComb, Ms. With us were Bryan's daughter Breanna, husband Tyler, and children, Alaya and Kalem. We enjoyed our time together and a delicious meal.
The Burch children treated their dad, Shelby Jr., out to eat at Bourne's Restaurant on Father's Day.

Yellow Squash Pie
5 medium squashes
¼ cup of margarine
3 large eggs
¾ cup of sugar
¼ cup of heavy cream
2 teaspoons vanilla flavor
2 tablespoons plain flour
1 teaspoon nutmeg
Directions: Boil squash-drain-mash
Wisk eggs then add sugar, heavy cream, melted butter, flour, nutmeg and vanilla. Add mashed squash last and mix well. Fill baked pie shell and bake for about 45 minutes or until firm.
This was my first-time making squash pie. I was sharing about it, and several wanted the recipe. Most everyone who has a garden plants squash. Hope you try it. I made it for my son Bryan. For those who ate some, said it was good and I plan to make more.
Brenda Burch celebrated her birthday on June 14th. She was surprised with a dozen red roses, balloons and gifts. Family members gathered for birthday cake and ice cream at the home of Evelyn Burch.
Happy belated June anniversary to Michael and Angela Stafford, Toney and Cindy McBeth, and Kevin and Minda Raybourn. Belated June birthdays were Alyssa Bennett, Madeline White and Barbara Gerald. Sorry for this.
